A couple of years ago, after the breakup of his old band, Dispatch, Chad Stokes set out to create a band with a unique sound and inspiring message. Stokes (from Sherborn), Chuck Fay (Philadelphia), and Mike Najarian ( Duxbury) have ingrained the ideals of progressive thought with their infectious blend of rock, punk, and reggae beats -- thus was born State Radio.
With Chad on guitar and vocals, Chuck on bass and Mike on drums, they look to rock the TD Banknorth Garden (hopefully after the Bruins rock the Leafs), following the hockey contest.
"I am overlooking the Garden and I am very excited to be in this hallowed hall of champions," said Stokes. "This is a dream come true. We thought we’d come here and have our skates on and that would be our way of making it onto the Garden ice, but it turns out we are going to have instruments -- which is a shock to us all as we all wish that we were professional athletes."
"This is my second time playing the Garden," said Najarian. "The other time I was in high school, playing with my high school team. But this is going to be a lot cooler because there is no winning or losing [in music] and we actually lost in high school -- pretty bad. It was like, 6-0. So I do not like to remember that."
"This is never going to make the blog, but I’m actually from Philadelphia," said Fay. "I’m a Flyers fan so there’s a little bit of conflict of interest."
Supposedly, State Radio is entered into a relay against the Ice Girls sometime between periods.
"I am feeling very good about the relay," said Fay. "Though I did tweak my ankle a little bit a couple of weeks ago. I am hoping that doesn’t effect my performance."
Good Luck tonight guys. Look out for those Ice Girls!
