Stars Come Out for Bruins Annual Halloween Visit

Eight players dress as Star Wars characters during yearly hospital trip

BOSTON - There were plenty of Stars at the Bruins' annual Halloween hospital visit on Wednesday afternoon.

This year's theme was Stars Wars, with eight players dressing up as characters from the legendary film series, including Noel Acciari (Kylo Ren), Matt Beleskey (Darth Vader), Jake DeBrusk (Han Solo), David Krejci (Luke Skywalker), Charlie McAvoy (Yoda), Tim Schaller (C-3PO), Ryan Spooner (Princess Leia), and Frank Vatrano (Chewbacca).

"Every time you put a wig on, it's weird…ish," Krejci said while donning his blonde Skywalker mop. "But you kind of embrace it, it's for a good thing and you try to make the [kids'] day. That's the goal."

In past years, themes have included Minions, "Frozen," and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But for a rookie like McAvoy, it was his first foray into the tradition.

"We enjoy it, it's not time out of our day or tedious to come and do these things," said the 21-year-old blue liner. "These are the kinds of things away from hockey that really make us all happy. We can only hope that we make someone else's day."

Here's a look at some photos from this year's event:
