8:40 p.m. - Second Period Snapshots: BOS 2, TBL 3

TAMPA REGAINS THE LEAD: The Bolt's leading goal scorer, Valtteri Filppula regained the lead for his team, beating Rask on a shot from the slot for his 21st of the season.

Carl Soderberg tied the game for the B's at the 11:31 mark when he found himself on a clean break away on Ben Bishop.  Sodeberg made a sharp deke on his approach and slipped a backhander past Bishop, five-hole, to even the score at 2-2. The goal marks Soderberg's 11th tally of the year.

Daniel Paille made quite an athletic play to get the Bruins on the board in the second period at 6:58.  After losing the puck and his balance, when Tyler Johnson planted a check on him coming up the right wing, Paille was able regain his balance and recollect the loose puck as he skated east to west in front of the crease.  Paille then sent a no-look backhander on net, which found its way past Bishop to pot his ninth goal of the season. Great hustle goal by Paille.

At the 15:47 mark, the Lightning took a 2-0 lead when Mark Barberio ripped a drive from the blueline the took a Bolt friendly bounce off of Nate Thompson's skate, who was screening in front.  Barberio gets credited for his fifth goal of the year with Tom Pyatt and Eric Brewer earning the assists. The play went under review shortly after the goal, but it was quickly decided the goal was legitimate as there was no distinct kicking motion on the deflection.

The Lightning got out to a 1-0 lead 27 seconds into the second period, when Ondrej Palat notched his 15th goal of the season.  Goaltender Tuukka Rask tried to punch the puck out as it was sliding into the B's zone with both a Tampa and Boston player in pursuit, but Ondrej Palat was able to tap the puck between Rask's legs and recollected behind Rask, who was way outside the crease, to tap it home. Earning assists in the play were Tyler Johnson (21) and Eric Brewer (10).

7:50 p.m. - First Period Snapshots: BOS 0, TBL

B'S MAN-ADVANTAGE #2: With 2:27 left in the first period, Tampa Bay's Mark Barbeiro was called for slashing on Milan Lucic, giving the Bruins their second PP of the night.   This time around, the Bruins looked crisp, moving the puck around the Tampa zone, generating a few scoring chances, including their best opportunity from Loui Eriksson on the doorstep as the period expired. The Bruins will look to carry that momentum into the second period, as they will begin the frame with 33 seconds of power play time left on the Barbeiro two-minute minor.

At the 4:11 mark the Bruins went on their first penalty kill of the evening when Zdeno Chara was whistled for roughing on new Lightning winger Ryan Callahan, who was recently acquired from the Rangers in the Martin St. Louis deal.  Entering the evening, the Bruins PK ranked 13th in the league with an 82.5% kill rate.  The Bruins were able to make their 171st kill of the season, keeping Tampa's chances limited to outside looks on Rask.

At the 12:01 mark, Bruins winger Shawn Thornton dropped the mitts with Tampa's Keith Aulie in the first bout of the evening.  Aulie, who checks in at 6'6'', 228-pounds, got his licks in early, but the 6'2'', 217-pound Thornton bounced right back and connected with a few right handed blows of his own, including one which knocked the helmet off his challenger. The fight ended with both players still on their feet as they were both separated and sent to the sin bin to serve their five-minute fighting majors.

BRUINS GET A POWER PLAY: At the 18:22 mark the Bruins were awarded their first power play of the game when Brad Marchand was tripped by Victor Hedman as Marchand was streaking into the Lightning zone over the blueline.  The Bruins first man-advantage of the night saw little momentum generated as Black & Gold failed to register a shot on net. The Lightning were ultimately able to escape the penalty without any hard done. At the 16:22 the Lightning are outshooting the B's, 3-0.
