Boston, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today Bruins forward Michael Ryder underwent successful surgery yesterday, February 9, to repair multiple fractures of the frontal sinus. The surgery was performed by Dr. Mack Cheney at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Ryder is expected to miss two to three weeks.
Ryder suffered the injury during the Bruins’ 4-3 shootout victory in Ottawa on February 5. Ryder has tallied 19 goals - including a team-best seven game-winners - and 17 assists in 52 games this season for Boston.
The Eastern Conference leading Bruins (85 points) host the Western Conference leading San Jose Sharks (79 points) tonight at the TD Banknorth Garden at 7:00 p.m. ET.
