Quotes from the Coaches

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
Colorado Head Coach, Joel Quenneville

On Peter Budaj’s performance:
Peter’s been good for us. He’s been consistent and tonight he was pretty effective. It was a tight game, and he was key on a few of those glove saves.

He anticipates well and improves every time he gets in the net. It was a tight game

On Paul Stastny:
Paul’s been terrific right from the outset of the season. He has a tremendous sense for the game, with or without the puck. He has a lot of confidence right now and he’s a big part of our team. His instincts are high end, and he has a lot of things you can’t even teach.

On his outlook for the rest of the season:
We have to make a great run. We haven’t had a sustained run all year, and that’s what we’re hoping to do right now. We’re playing games against teams we have to chase, so we control our own destiny. We still have to win almost every game.

Bruins Head Coach, Dave Lewis
On what went wrong:
We looked tired as a team, and we didn’t have enough effort to win the hockey game. There is no excuse.

We didn’t have the correct structure in the neutral zone, we had some missed coverage, and we started flat. We didn’t win enough battles or get to the net, and we just didn’t skate with the same energy [as the past two games].

We didn’t get to their net. In the past two games, we did that, and it takes a lot of effort and energy. Still it was a 0-0 game going into the third, and you will play games like that going down the stretch. They found a way to get the guy to the net, and they scored the goal.

On his outlook for the rest of the season:
We certainly are not going to quit because we lost one game. We’ll get ready for the next one. We have to play harder, and I’d like to see more physical play and contact, and I’d like our power play to be better. There will always be walls to get through, and we didn’t get there tonight, but there is still time.

On the power play
It just doesn’t seem to have rhythm. At times, we retrieve it, but we don’t make a play. The power play has to get better to give ourselves a chance, because that’s been one of our strengths.
