BostonBruins.com - Bruins draft pick Trevor Kuntar had a milestone weekend for Boston College, notching his first collegiate goal on Friday, before adding his first career two-goal game the following night. Boston's 2020 third-round selection helped the Eagles to a two-game sweep of Providence College.

In the Eagles' 3-0 victory on Friday night, the freshman charged hard to the right post and re-directed a feed from Colby Ambrosio toward PC goalie Gabe Mollot-Hill, who denied the initial shot. Kuntar, however, went back to the crease and stuffed home his first of the season to put BC ahead, 1-0, with 21 seconds left in the second.
The 19-year-old New York native was right back at it on Saturday night, potting two goals in BC's 9-0 drubbing of the Friars. Kuntar scored both goals within a minute span (12:15 and 13:09 of the third) for the Eagles' seventh and eighth goals of the night - one into the top right corner off a screen and the other five-hole from the front of the net.
The 6-foot, 195-pounder is now tied for the team lead with three goals this season. He is 3-1--4 in four games.

Going Camping

The Bruins will have a third prospect attending his country's World Junior Championship training camp. In addition to Johnny Beecher (USA) and Roman Bychkov (Russia), forward Matias Mantykivi has been named to Finland's preliminary roster for the upcoming WJC.
The 19-year-old, drafted by the Bruins in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, has notched four assists in 17 games this season for SaiPa in the Finnish Liiga.
Last season, Mantykivi collected three goals and three assists in 42 games for SaiPa.
Fellow Boston prospect Urho Vaakanainen - a candidate to push for a spot on the Bruins' roster this season - was placed on loan to SaiPa late last month and potted a goal in his first contest with his old team.
The blue liner played just two games before the Finnish Liiga season was paused because of stricter COVID-19 restrictions being put in place in some areas of Finland.

Wait, There's More

  • Jakub Lauko, who is 3-3--6 in 15 games while on loan to HC Energie Karlovy in Czechia, played in his 100th career game in the league over the weekend. The B's 2018 third-round pick also spent time in the Czech league during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 campaigns before moving on to the QMJHL. The 20-year-old dropped the gloves on Friday night in defense of a teammate and also potted a goal in the shootout during a win over HC Dynamo on Sunday.
  • Minnesota-Duluth sophomore Quinn Olson, the Bruins' third-rounder in 2019, picked up his first goal of the season on Sunday with a top-shelf snipe from the left circle in the Bulldogs' 5-3win over Miami (Ohio). The 19-year-old also picked up an assist.
  • Bruins' 2020 second-round pick Mason Lohrei is tied for the USHL lead in points among defensemen with 8 through six games. He was named the USHL Defenseman of the Week on Dec. 1 after picking up a goal and an assist for Green Bay in the league's Week 4. The Gamblers have been on a pause because of COVID-19 and are expected to resume play this weekend.
  • Forward Matt Filipe - a Lynnfield, Mass., native singed to an entry-level contract over the summer - has been assigned to the Jacksonville Icemen of the ECHL along with Bruins goalie prospect Kyle Keyser. Boston's regular ECHL affiliate, the Atlanta Gladiators, is one of a number of teams in the league to opt out of playing this season because of the pandemic.
  • Providence winger Robert Lantosi continues to be a point-per-game player while on loan with HK Nitra in his native Slovakia. He has 14 points (2 goals, 12 assists) in 14 games.
  • Beecher and fellow Bruins prospect Jack Becker both assisted on Cam York's beautiful backhand goal in Michigan's 9-5 loss to Penn State last Thursday. Becker has three assists in seven games this season, while Beecher has a goal and an assist in eight contests.
