BostonBruins.com - Charlie McAvoy netted his first goal of the season on Saturday in Boston University's 4-2 win over Michigan in Ann Arbor. The 14th overall pick in last June's NHL Draft broke a 1-1 tie midway through the third when he charged to the front of the net and deposited a Jordan Greenway pass past Wolverines goalie Jack LaFontaine.
The 18-year-old defenseman also added two assists, on tallies by Dante Fabbro and Greenway, who gave fifth-ranked BU the lead for good a few minutes after McAvoy's goal. McAvoy now has nine points (one goal, eight assists) in nine games, good for the third-most on the Terriers.
McAvoy's BU teammate and fellow Bruins draft pick Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson also assisted on Greenway's go-ahead tally. JFK has two goals and seven assists through nine games.
