had some more "firsts" during last night's 4-2 win against Montreal.

It was Horton's first night with a Black & Gold sweater bearing number-18 on his back. He scored his first goal on his first shot, in the first period, which earned him his first Bruins point.
What wasn't a first was the characteristic modesty he showed when, instead of focusing on the personal accomplishment, he spoke at length -- again -- about the admiration he had for his fellow players in the Bruins dressing room and the Boston organization in general.
"Definitely [playing as a Veteran was great] even though we are a little rusty." said Horton in assessment of the evening. "But like I said it was great playing in a rivalry for the Boston Bruins."
"It's a great way to start the relationship."
Bruins head coach Claude Julien was thrilled with the way his new power forward performed in his debut.
"He’s definitely one of those guys [who scored early]," explained Julien, "and that’s why I went and got him."
"I think [Horton] is going to be a guy that we are definitely going to look at out there, I guess to plug that [scoring] hole that we lost with Phil Kessel," he said.
While Horton recognizes the scoring prowess he helps to bring to his new team he also acknowledged that there was still a ways to go before the regular season.
"Everyone had a lot of fun [last night], we just have to concentrate on fixing up little things and not give them too many good shots," said Horton. "Tuukka had to make too many saves."
With the preseason now officially underway the players can focus on getting back into full game mode. Personally, Horton was happy to get through his first Bruins appearance and can now look forward to the rest of the season.
"It was definitely nice to get a game...[even if] it's preseason," said Horton. "It's nice to finally get the first game done."
