WILMINGTON, Mass. --
Following practice, the B's locker room was applauding Rich Peverley
's contract extension.
"Obviously, he's very versatile -- he's been able to play on every single line," said B's forward Shawn Thornton
. "Being able to move him around I'm sure is a treat for the coaching staff.
"He fits into the locker room very well, which we appreciate, as soon as he came in.
"He's been an unbelievable guy. A great team guy and we're happy to have him."
Fellow forward Milan Lucic
echoed Thornton's statements.
"It's great," he said. "He was a big part of making us a complete team and he's been able to [help us] step up our game and score big goals at big times.
"He's a two way player and he's great on the penalty kill and also on the power play.
"And so far, early in this season, he's done a great job"
Alternate captain Patrice Bergeron
, whose own contract was extended early last season, said it's good that the B's core group of players remains in the fold.
"We're really happy for Rich to stay around with us," said Bergeron. "He's a great player and obviously has been a big key for us last year to win the Cup.
"His versatility helped us a lot last year and he fit in on most of the lines and he played in different positions and [that] tells a lot about his hockey sense and his vision on the ice.
"He's a great guy, as well. So we're really happy for him and it's well deserved."
Boston Bruins Head Coach Claude Julien agreed with his forwards.
"He's a guy who has paid his dues," said Julien. "He's worked his way up in this league and is becoming...more of an impact player as he gains experience.
"He's got a lot of good tools that have certainly served us well, especially in the playoffs last year."
