BOSTON -The B's are hoping to return to full health soon, as Linus Ullmark, Trent Frederic, and Craig Smith and Derek Forbort are all considered "day-to-day" and checking the necessary boxes for upcoming returns.
"No one has received bad news, which is good," said coach Jim Montgomery. "But how quickly they're going to be back, we don't know."

On the Injury Front

  • Ullmark left the B's Friday matinĂ©e against the Hurricanes in the third period after a collision with Connor Clifton in front of the net but "is feeling better," per Montgomery.
  • Smith also left Boston's win over Carolina suffering an upper-body injury in the third period. "It's day to day," said Montgomery.
  • Frederic, whosuffered an upper-body injury in the B's victory in Tampa, skated on his own after Saturday's practice at Warrior Ice Arena.
  • Forbort, who has missed the last 11 games after right middle finger surgery, is "getting close," said Montgomery, who added that he would be shocked if Forbort isn't back by the December 3 game vs. the Colorado Avalanche at TD Garden.

A Marchy Statement

Brad Marchand noted that just because the B's are in the middle of a challenging stretch of games, doesn't mean the team is approaching them any differently. Over the next two weeks, the B's will see Vegas - currently in first in the Pacific Division - and Colorado - the defending Stanley Cup champions - two times each.
"A lot of people look at the teams around the league and say certain games are statement games, but I don't necessarily agree with that." said Marchand. "Any team can win any night, you see it across the league all the time where the last-place team will beat the first-place team and it happens."
For Marchand, whether it's a first or last place team, it's all about being prepared. "Every night it's about being consistent and being a good, professional team, being ready to play," he said. "Each night is a statement about how we're going to be prepared, if we're learning from past mistakes, if we we're maybe sleepy, or in the second or the third, whatever it is, and how we continue to be better, how we continue to improve on our game."
