BOSTON, MA – NESN announced Tuesday, March 31, that Bruins forward David Pastrnak has been named the winner of NESN's Seventh Player Award presented by Central Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Central Auto Team of Norwood. Voted on by Bruins fans online at NESN.com, NESN's Seventh Player Award is an annual award presented to the Bruin who exceeded the expectations of Bruins fans during the 2014-15 season.
In his first season with the Bruins, Pastrnak has recorded nine goals and 13 assists, for 22 points and a plus/minus rating for plus-nine (fourth on team). At 18 years old Pastrnak has been the youngest player in both the AHL and the NHL this season. With his first NHL goal on 1/10/15, he became the youngest Bruin to score a goal since Patrice Bergeron on 10/10/03.
The 6’0’, 167-pound native of Havirov, Czech Republic was drafted by the Bruins in the first round (25th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
In addition to the Seventh Player Award trophy, Pastrnak will receive $5,000 to donate to the charity of his choice.
Recent past recipients include: Reilly Smith (2014), Dougie Hamilton (2013), Tyler Seguin (2012), Brad Marchand (2011), Tuukka Rask (2010), David Krejci (2009) and Milan Lucic (2008).
NESN’s voice of the Boston Bruins Jack Edwards will host an on-ice pregame ceremony before the Bruins/Panthers game on March 31, 2015 to give Pastrnak his award.
