Pastrnak Leaves First Session Early

by Caryn Switaj / Boston Bruins

WILMINGTON, MA - The Bruins were back on the ice Saturday for the second day of training camp practices at Ristuccia Arena.

The two groups swapped start times, with Zdeno Chara's group going first.

About a half hour into the skate, David Pastrnak went into the boards and skated off the ice and into the locker room. He did not return to the session.

Following the skate, Chara was asked by a reporter what he's seen of Pastrnak at camp.

"Really there's not much time to watch one player on the ice, there's obviously drills going on, so to be asking me what I see of him, for me to really just watch one player, it's tough to give you feedback," he responded. "But we'll see how it is, and we don't know what happened to him in the first half."

Head Coach Claude Julien will address media following the second group's skate (at around 3:00 p.m. ET).

Pastrnak played on David Krejci's right wing for the first day of practice - a great opportunity for the 18-year-old Czech native.

With Pastrnak absent, Tyler Randell was Krejci's right winger with Matt Fraser on the left wing.

The up-tempo, high energy pace carried over from Friday, with the players all showing plenty of jump.

Flow drills and three-man rushes showed off Loui Eriksson's shot and Malcolm Subban's athleticism (he went into a full splits to stop a Dougie Hamilton rebound chance, to the delight of the packed crowd of fans in attendance). Julien's staple battle drills brought up the intensity, with players battling hard along the boards and in the corners.

Similar to Friday, the second half of the session was dedicated to implementing the Bruins' systems, with a vocal Julien making sure everything was done to a T.
