P-Bruins Fall to Hershey, 6-4. Trail Series, 2-1

From -- The Providence Bruins fell to the Hershey Bears 6-4 Friday evening in front of 7,474 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Zach Hamill, Peter Schaefer and two goals from Jeff Penner.  The Bears lead the best of seven series 2 games to 1.  The P-Bruins return to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday, May 24 at 7:05 p.m. for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 1:56 mark of the opening period.  Hamill took a shot from the top of the right face off circle and the puck trickled into the net for his first goal of the post-season.  The goal was unassisted.  Providence grabbed a 2-0 advantage at the 15:32 mark, while on the power play.  Vladimir Sobotka had the puck behind the net and passed it up the boards to Martin St. Pierre.  He found Penner backdoor, who tallied his fourth goal of the playoffs.  The P-Bruins went into the first intermission leading 2-0.

Providence went ahead 3-0 at the 3:01 mark of the second period, while on the power play.  Penner carried the puck into the zone and dropped it off for Mikko Lehtonen.  He found Schaefer cutting towards the net and Schaefer scored his second goal of the playoffs.  Hershey got on the board at the 3:26 mark.  Alexandre Giroux tallied his seventh goal of the post-season, while Keith Aucoin recorded the lone assist.  The Bears cut the lead to one at the 9:05 mark.  Chris Bourque netted his third goal of the playoffs with Jay Beagle and Patrick McNeill picking up the assists.  The P-Bruins led after two periods 3-2.

Providence retook a two goal advantage 38 seconds into the third period, while on the power play.  St. Pierre had the puck along the boards and sent it to Johnny Boychuk at the blue line.  He found Penner in the left face off circle and he scored his second goal of the game and fifth of the playoffs.  The Bears got back within a goal at the 5:32 mark.  Andrew Gordon tallied his fourth goal of the playoffs, while Kyle Wilson and Tyler Sloan had the assists. Hershey tied the game at four at the 6:52 mark.  Giroux netted his second goal of the game and eighth of the playoffs, with Sean Collins and Dean Arsene getting the assists.  The Bears took their first lead of the game at the 13:58 mark.  Graham Mink grabbed his fourth goal of the post-season, while Bryan Helmer and McNeill had the assists.  Hershey added an insurance goal at the 19:25 mark, while on the power play. Helmer scored his second goal of the post-season, with Staffan Kronwell and Aucoin getting the assists.  Hershey went on to the 6-4 victory.

Tuukka Rask stopped 26 of 32 shots for the P-Bruins, while Michal Neuvirth made 24 saves for the Bears.  The P-Bruins were 3-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The P-Bruins return to The Dunk for Game 4 on Sunday, May 24 at 7:05 p.m. and Game 5 on Monday, May 25 at 4:05 p.m.
