The Falcons scored the first two goals of the first period, while on a major power play. At the 9:47 mark, Patrick Thoresen scored off a rebound on a shot from T.J. Kemp. Sebastien Bisaillon recorded the second assist. At the 10:30 mark, Kemp took a shot from the blue line and the puck was redirected into the net by Bisaillon. Fredrik Johansson had the second assist. The P-Bruins scored on a power play goal of their own at the 16:39 mark. Matt Lashoff worked the puck from the blue line to Vladimir Sobotka along the right boards. Sobotka took a shot and the puck was tipped from just outside the crease by Pelletier and into the net. Providence went into the first intermission trailing 2-1.
In the second period, Springfield scored the lone goal, while on the power play at the 14:37 mark. Colin McDonald scored, with Kemp and Rob Schremp getting the assists. The Falcons took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission.
In the third period, the P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 15:24 mark. Martins Karsums intercepted a clearing attempt at the blueline and passed the puck to Skinner. He put it under the crossbar into the upper right hand corner of the net.
