BOSTON – Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic and NESN TV host Kathryn Tappen have teamed up with NetRaffle.org to support the March of Dimes.
“This is an opportunity for us to be a part of something here,” Lucic said. “Obviously it’s been a great season for us so far and everyone is excited for the playoffs.
“Myself and Kathryn have decided to team up with…the March of Dimes to create a raffle with NetRaffle.org. And it provides two tickets to every home game and dinner with me and Kathryn at Tresca, everyone’s favorite North End restaurant.”
“We do whatever we can to give back to the community and this is one way we can,” Lucic added.
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. It was founded over 70 years ago, and today there are over 40 different research labs in Massachusetts alone funded by the March of Dimes working towards the organization’s mission.
“Today our mission is to try to reduce birth defects, premature births and infant mortality,” said Ed Doherty, chapter director for the Massachusetts chapter of the March of Dimes.
“We are excited to partner with Milan [and] Kathryn…because all of the money raised is going to stay locally. We are excited that we have this opportunity to spread the word about the mission of the March of Dimes and create additional awareness to help hasten the day when no baby is born too small or too sick to survive.”
As a member of the Boston media and a supporter of the March of Dimes, Tappen has had a chance to learn about their mission and is looking forward to joining the cause.
“I’ve had the opportunity to do a lot with the March of Dimes, being here in Boston. I love what they stand for,” Tappen said. “This opportunity for a play off ticket is really exciting, to be able to get involved in the action and hopefully it will be a long playoff run for the Bruins.
“If someone can help out with that aspect,” she added as she nudged a laughing Lucic.
