BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Adam McQuaid from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League).  McQuaid will join the team for practice at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington on Wednesday, January 20.

The 23-year-old McQuaid made his Bruins/NHL debut on December 19, 2009 in Toronto and has skated in eight games this year for Boston, recording 14 penalty minutes.  He has played in 29 games this season for Providence and has registered 3-7=10 totals and 66 penalty minutes.

The 6’5” 209-pound Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island native was originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the second round (55th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.  McQuaid was traded to Boston from Columbus for a 2007 fifth round draft pick (Jamie Benn) on May 16, 2007.
