Marchand Out Against St. Louis

by Caryn Switaj / Boston Bruins

BOSTON - Brad Marchand will not be in the lineup when the Bruins host the St. Louis Blues at TD Garden on Tuesday night.

Marchand took part in pregame skate on Tuesday morning, but left the ice early after just one line rush with Patrice Bergeron and Reilly Smith.

"[He's] not well, he went off the ice. He won't be going tonight," Head Coach Claude Julien said following the skate.

The winger didn't practice with the team on Monday at Ristuccia Arena. His last shift in Saturday's game against Carolina at TD Garden ended with 13:45 left in the third period.

The Bruins are being cautious with the undisclosed situation. Julien confirmed on Tuesday that it is not a head injury.

In Marchand's place, Matt Fraser is expected to slot in on the left wing alongside Bergeron and Smith.

David Krejci is a possibility for Tuesday night's game. He took part in the pregame skate, skating in his usual spot with Milan Lucic and Seth Griffith. He's missed the past four games with a day-to-day, undisclosed injury.

Julien said that if Krejci's not ready to get back into the lineup, the Bruins will recall a forward from Providence.

"I don’t know yet. The thing I would tell you is if you see a callup this afternoon, at some point, it means he’s not [ready] and if not, I guess everything’s OK," Julien said during his pregame press conference at 11:00 a.m. "I don’t have the answer for you right now."

If that happens, the callup could slot into the center's spot, or the lines could be rotated around - both to start the game and with Julien's line juggling throughout. Chris Kelly has mostly filled in for Krejci during the center's absence.

On the back end, defenseman Kevan Miller is a game-time decision after missing 12 games in his recovery from a dislocated shoulder suffered on October 18.

Julien said he'll be dressing seven defensemen for warmups, and Miller will be included in that group.

Game time against St. Louis is set for 7:00 p.m. ET at TD Garden (NESN, 98.5 The Sports Hub). This marks the first of two meeting on the season against the Blues, who head into Tuesday night having won 10 of their past 11 games.
