Boston, MA - The National Hockey League announced today that Bruins center Marc Savard has been named to the Eastern Conference team in the 2008 NHL All-Star Game. The 2008 NHL All-Star game will be played on Sunday, January 27 at 6:00 p.m. ET at Philips Arena in Atlanta.
This marks Savard's first appearance in an NHL All-Star Game in his 10-year-career. Savard leads the Bruins with 47 points this season, having posted 11 goals, a team-best 36 assists, and a +5 plus/minus rating in 43 games. Last year with Boston, Savard set a career high in assists with 74 and racked up 96 points, one shy of his career-best 97 which he set during the 2005-2006 season as a member of the Atlanta Thrashers.
In 628 NHL games, Savard has registered 166 goals and 378 assists for 544 points.
