Mara Out, Thomas In

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
Paul Mara will not play for the Bruins tonight.

He skated around for a bit this afternoon but will not be able to go this evening. No word about his availability going forward.

As of this writing, nobody else is on the suit squad tonight.

Tim Thomas will start in goal versus Carolina.

When he appears in goal in the first period it with be his 18th game played in a row -- matching his personal best.

Thomas has won his last three starts with a 1.62 GAA and .954 save percentage in those three contests.

Hannu Toivonen stayed after practice with all three coaches.

The coaches propped the goal net up on pucks and one fed them through the back of the net, through Hannu’s legs, and out to a waiting shooter.

Toivonen didn’t get to see where the puck was coming from or where it was going -- in turn he couldn’t anticipate the location of the shots from the coaches and was forced to make a lot of reaction type saves.
