BostonBruins.com -The quaterfinal matchups at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships pitted fellow B's prospects Fabian Lysell and Dans Locmelis against each other on Wednesday for a spot in the semifinals. Both Locmelis and Lysell recorded an assist, but ultimately Lysell and Team Sweden earned a 2-1 win and will continue on in Edmonton.

Team Latvia competed in the quarterfinals for the first time in history and put up a good fight against a challenging Sweden team. Lysell contributed to the win, almost noching the first goal himself with a wraparound shot on the power play that went through the crease. The shot quickly found itself on the stick of teammate Isak Rosen, who immediately sent it to the back of the net giving Sweden the 1-0 lead at 6:44.
"Fabian did a really good entry on the power play," Rosen told reporter Andrew Podnieks. "I tried to find an open space where the puck could end up and it got on my stick. So, open net!"

Lysell (1-4--5 in five games) and Team Sweden will take on Finland on Friday night at 8 p.m. ET for a spot in Saturday's title game. Locmelis finished the tournament with a goal and an assist in five games.
B's prospect Riley Duran and Team USA, meanwhile, fell to Czechia on Wednesday after going undefeated through the prelimanary round. Czechia's win is considered an upset, with their last victory over Team USA coming back in 2011. Duran had a strong first World Juniors tournament and finished with two goals and three assists for five points in five games.
