Lucic Hits the 20-Goal Milestone

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
BOSTON - Thanks to a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers Wednesday night in TD Garden,  the Boston Bruins rolled into this weekend’s All-Star break having won seven of their last ten games.

But no Bruin has been on more of a roll as of late than left-winger Milan Lucic

Lucic, whose game-winning goal at 1:52 in the second period of the win was his 20th of the season, has been on a scoring tear as of late.

Lucic has four goals in his last five games, including two game-winners.

“I’m just taking it one at a time, just looking at every game here and just try to create chances and opportunities,” Lucic said.

“I’ve had some real great linemates this year, and I feel like I’ve been skating better, and I’ve worked on my shot so I think that’s a big reason why I’ve been able to produce.

“And looking forward it’s the same thing. I’ve just got to take it one game at a time. I shouldn’t change anything and keep pushing for more.”

Three of Lucic’s last four goals have been assisted by David Krejci, with whom Lucic has been reunited on a line that includes Nathan Horton on the right wing.

“It’s good, especially when he’s on my line. You know I’m trying to create some chances and he did pretty good to get his own goals, but he could have more goals,” Krejci said.

“I’m happy where we are so far and I don’t want to stop that. We need him as much as we need myself to create the chances for him so if we can continue that then everybody will be happy.”

This season marks the first time Lucic has reached the 20-goal milestone, but he has no plans of slowing down.

“That was a big question coming in from myself and a lot of people, if I was able to get to that mark. It came a lot quicker than I thought, but most importantly it was a big goal to help the team win here,” he said.

Coming out of the All-Star break and heading into the “grind it out” portion of the season Boston Bruins Head Coach Claude Julien expects to play a key role in taking to B’s to the playoffs and beyond.

“We should expect him to continue to produce because he’s capable of doing that…he’s also one of those players that I think has always come up big and in the big games such as playoffs and that stuff,” Julien said after last night’s game.

“He’s one of those guys that really rises to the occasion so you hope that continues as well."
