Little Bruins Presented By Friendly's And Mass Hockey To Return This October

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
BOSTON, MA – The Boston Bruins announced that the Little Bruins Learn to Play program presented by Friendly’s and Mass Hockey, an initiative designed to introduce the game of ice hockey by overcoming affordability barriers that limit involvement at the beginner level in an effort to increase participation in youth hockey and grow the game, will begin its second season in October when over 600 youth will have the opportunity to participate at one of twelve locations across Massachusetts. Each participant will be outfitted with gear from head-to-toe and receive four weeks of on-ice instruction for $100. The Little Bruins program is helping increase youth hockey participation, over 60% of the youth hockey players who registered for the Little Bruins program last year are currently enrolled in organized hockey.

Registration for the Little Bruins program will begin on September 23rd at 10:00 a.m. on www.bostonbruins.com/littlebruins on a first come, first serve basis for children ages five to eight. The program is open to those who have not already participated in organized hockey.

The program will include instruction by licensed Mass Hockey instructors adhering to USA Hockey’s American Development Model, focusing on small area games leading to higher skill levels and more fun for youth players.

The Little Bruins Learn to Play program will kick-off with two Little Bruins Equipment Fittings at Monkey Sports in Norwood on Saturday, October 10 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon and in Derry, NH Sunday, October 11 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
