Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Matt Lashoff from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League) and placed defenseman Andrew Ference
on injured reserve.
Lashoff has played in 15 games this season for Providence and has posted 3-10-13 totals and 21 penalty minutes. He split last season between Boston and Providence and appeared in 18 NHL games, registering 1-4-5 totals and appeared in 60 games for the P-Bruins, tallying 9-27-36 totals. The 22-year-old Lashoff was originally drafted by Boston in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and has seen action in 30 NHL games in his career.
Ference sustained a fractured right tibia on November 13, 2008 against Montreal and is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Prior to his injury, Ference appeared in Boston’s first 16 games and recorded 0-7-7 totals and a +9 plus/minus rating.
