Krejci Skates, Feels Good

by John Bishop / Boston Bruins
BOSTON - On Sunday, after his first non-contact skate with the team since sustaining a concussion, injured Boston Bruins forward David Krejci was asked a simple question: How do you feel?

"I feel better," said Krejci with a chuckle. "It’s a simple answer."

But the answer to the $25,000 query -- i.e. exactly when David will return to the lineup -- is still elusive.

"I feel better every day, so it was a good step for me to go on the ice with the guys today," said Krejci. "I’ve made some good progress, and definitely moving in the right direction, but I’ve got to talk to trainers and tell them how I felt this morning and we'll see what the next step is."

Boston Bruins fans and players alike are waiting for Krejci to step back into the B's roster. The B's, who have lost four of their last five (1-3-1) were off to a smoking start, but the recent cool down was roughly timed to the overtime period versus St. Louis on Nov. 6.

"Well, I was clear for my bike test a couple of days ago, and I did pretty well. So Saturday...we had to rate how I feel you know," said Krejci. "And I felt pretty good.

"I tried it on the ice and I felt pretty good again.

"So, like I said, it’s progress and I’ve got to talk to trainers about how I felt [after skating]," he said.

Beyond any issues relating specifically to his injury, Krejci didn't anticipate any roadblocks to his complete recovery.

"I don’t think I’m out of shape or anything like that," said David. "Obviously, I didn’t skate for a week...[but] we’re professional athletes, so it shouldn’t take us too long for us to get back into the skating shape.

"I think I’m pretty close to that," continued Krejci. "But I don’t think anything has changed about my conditioning or my shape right now -- it’s about how I feel and I have to talk about it with my trainers and doctors."

Krejci admitted, however, that watching the games from the press box hasn't been esy.

"It’s never fun," he said. "You want to be out there so bad.

"You want to try to help the guys get in the game or just support them as much as you can, and it’s tough. You’re sitting all the way up there far away from the game, from the guys...but it’s part of the game and sometimes it happens, you know?

"But I believe I’m going to be back soon and I want to [play] desperately again," said Krejci.
