BostonBruins.com -- Chris Kelly is finally in Black & Gold.
The forward will don a #23 B's jersey on Friday night in Ottawa versus his former team the Senators.
"It’s a big difference," said Kelly to the gathered press in the visiting locker room in Scotiabank Place. "The only times I’ve been in this room has been training camp and things like that.
"But the guys have made me feel welcome and I’m excited for tonight."
As excited as he might be to join Boston, playing Ottawa in his first game with the Bruins could certainly leave Kelly a little pensive.
"It’ll be mixed emotions tonight," admitted Kelly. "I’m excited to play tonight and he part of this team, it just happens that my first game is against my old team.
"But I’m excited to get going."
Kelly talked about how he will go about making the transition.
"I think just go out and kind of play my game and be the person I am," said Kelly. "Try to fit in the best I can...and help the team wherever I can. And do whatever needs to be done to help them be successful."
But regardless of tonight's circumstances, Kelly is excited to have been traded to a contender.
"I’m excited to be here," said Kelly. "Boston is a great city.
"I knew Zdeno [Chara] and Peter Chiarelli before coming here [and that] has made the adjustment a little easier.
"Like I said, the guys have been great and I’m excited to be part of this."
