It's Good to be Rex

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins -- Boston was the last stop in Mark Recchi’s prolific, 22-year career, but the three-time Stanley Cup winner returned to the area Monday to greet Bruins fans and autograph copies of “Full 60 to History: The Inside Story of the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins."

The book can be purchased online, the Boston Bruins Pro Shop and select Fan Zone locations in the TD Garden concourse, and will also be sold at 77 AT & T retail locations in New England.

“It was great being back in town, I love Boston and I miss it,” said Recchi, who met fans at the AT & T store in Braintree’s South Shore Plaza.

“It’s a joy to come back and see the fans and get to see the guys a little bit."
Recchi, a sure-bet Hockey Hall of Famer, tallied nine goals and 14 assists during last season’s playoff journey, and wrote the afterword for the commemorative book that’s filled with stories, vignettes and photos from behind-the-scenes of the memorable 2010-11 season.

“It’s neat being part of something so special,” Recchi said. “There’s some great moments in there – I can’t wait to read it myself.

"Hopefully, my after-thoughts helped show what...we were feeling at the time.”

Like most Bruins fans, Recchi is eager to delve into the sections that details the ins-and-outs of the trades made by General Manager Peter Chiarelli and the note he sent to Coach Claude Julien during the Final.

“I saw the one part where Peter sent the note down that said, ‘Let’s keep it simple for Big Zee,’” Recchi said. “It’s the little things like that you don’t see [during the season].”

Recchi said he was honored to have his words featured in the book and that the special moments captured in "Full 60 to History" are something he will always cherish.

“It’s a priceless thing, it’ll last a lifetime now and you can always look back at it,” Recchi said. “I can show my kids, and they can show their kids and it will last forever.”
