BOSTON - The Martin Richard Foundation, in partnership with TD Garden, the Boston Bruins Foundation and Dave McGillivray Sports Enterprises (DMSE), today announced plans for the first annual MR8K to be held on Labor Day - Monday, September 3, 2018.
To reflect the spirit of the Martin Richard Foundation, the first annual MR8K will be a 'Run for Gratitude' honoring first responders and related charities.
"Through our work at the Martin Richard Foundation, and with incredible partners like TD Garden, the Boston Bruins Foundation and public safety officials, we continue to see that there are so many individuals across our community who respond to adversity with kindness and selflessness," said Bill Richard. "That's why the proceeds from this year's MR8K will benefit first responders and all those who stand up for others when it would be easier to do nothing at all. It is our way of saying thank you to them for what they did for us and do for others every day."
The MR8K race, produced by DMSE Sports, Inc., is the first ever 5-mile course (8K) that will bring participants beneath TD Garden's storied rafters, home of 23 championship banners (the most in the country), and feature a finish line at Boston Bruins center ice.

Registration is $45, with proceeds benefiting the Martin Richard Foundation. Participants and spectators will have the opportunity to fundraise and donate on CrowdRise. Each registrant will receive an event day shirt as part of the registration fee. The event is open to both runners and walkers, as well as families with small children. Those who register for the MR8K between now and Thursday, May 3 at 2:00 PM will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win 2 tickets to Home Game 2 of the Second Round of the Boston Bruins Playoffs on Friday, May 4 at 7:00 PM.

Since 2014, the Martin Richard Foundation has distributed more than 50,000 donations totaling nearly $750,000 in giving to organizations focused on community need, youth development, adaptive and inclusive sports, and education around non-violence.
