by John Bishop / Boston Bruins — Fresh off a shutout of the Kingston Frontenacs, Malcolm Subban admitted he feels "in the zone right now."


Why not? Subban enters this week's action with a 7-3-1 record, a .937 save percentage, and a 2.17 goals against average for the Belleville Bulls, while earlier this month he earned praise from Boston Bruins Head Coach Claude Julien.

"He was outstanding," said Julien after a short scouting trip to Canada with B's General Manager Peter Chiarelli. "It was really impressive—a lot of good things that I saw from him, and a few things we talked to him about working on and continuing to improve."

"It was a pretty good one," said Subban of the visit from the B's brass. "It was just some constructive criticism, it was a good talk with [Coach Julien] and…Peter Chiarelli.

"It was really good talking to them."

Judging by the first month of the season, Subban, who was named to the OHL roster for the Subway Super Series versus the Russian National Junior Team, could give everyone a little more to talk about as the 2012-13 campaign continues and he competes for a spot on Canada's World Junior squad.

In the interim, Subban is working to put what he's learned from his interactions with the Bruins coaches as he traverses the CHL with the Bulls.

"At the next level they’re coming down so much faster so you’ve got to get out and cut down the angle," said the goalie while talking shop. "I think that was the biggest thing, just not getting too wide in my stance, just being able to get wide and move around, and have less stress on my body.

"At the end of the day, I’m getting advice from a lot of great people, and they know what they’re talking about, so I’m all ears," explained Subban. "Hopefully, I can put it all together."

And if the does that, he'll continue to create stress for opposing shooters.

"We’re doing well right now. We’re having a steady pace right now, and hopefully we can keep it up and stay as consistent as possible.

"Hopefully I can keep it up," added Subban.
