From the coaches...

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
Bruins Head Coach Dave Lewis

On tonight’s atmosphere:
It was fabulous. It was a great environment for the fans and the players. Original Six on a Saturday night. Full house. Montreal-Boston. There was lot on the line for both teams. For a player, how does it get any better than that? That’s why you play, and that’s the environment you want to be in. You could sense it from the beginning. It was special.

On the preparation for tonight’s game:
We did a lot of video with the offense and a lot of video with the defense. We also had a couple of meetings on and off the ice. I don’t know if those were necessary or not. I just know the guys weren’t satisfied with their effort, and they needed to play a better game against Montreal. I don’t know if it worked, but it was a great game to play in.

On Brandon Bochenski:
He’s dangerous in the offensive zone. He is a shooter who doesn’t have one favorite spot; he goes for different ones. He’s pretty creative.

On the difference between tonight’s game and Thursday’s game:
I thought our coverage in the first two periods was excellent. In the third, they started pushing and generating chances. But when they had their Grade-A scoring chances, Timmy [Thomas] was there. We did a much better job than the other night, so we spent more time in their zone.

Canadiens Head Coach Guy Carbonneau
On goalie Jaroslav Halak’s performance:
Halak was good. The first goal we’d like to have back, but the last two were turnovers that we created. In the first part of the game, he kept us in it and made some great saves. In the second part, it was all Thomas.

On tonight’s loss:
I thought we had a decent start, but it’s been like this for a while. We seem to wait until we’re two goals down to start playing. The second part, we really played well and put pressure on [The Bruins]. But then we make mistakes that we shouldn’t make at this time of the year.

This one hurts.

On the Canadiens’ outlook:
This was a bad game, but the good part is that we’re still in it. We can’t quit, and we’re not going to. There are still enough games to turn this around.
