] Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference
stopped by the Pine Street Inn this morning to decorate cookies with the men and women that are staying at the facility during the holiday season.
“It’s become a big art of our day, part of our tradition in Boston,” Ference said of Christmas Eve. “Every year is busier and busier – Pine Street does a tremendous job around the city taking care of people.
"They have a mobile unit that goes out and about and makes sure people in town are taken care of.”
Ference was joined by his wife Krista, and his daughters Ava and Stella.
“It’s important – they look forward to it,” Ference said. “Ava’s been doing it, it’s normal and it’s what we do. She helps out and comes for the toy drop offs at the hospital too.
"We have a comfortable life, so it’s important that they see that that’s its not like that – it’s not normal, and its important they get involved in the community as well as much as they can.”
The B’s defenseman said he enjoys going to the Pine Street Inn every year so he can spread the holiday spirit.
“They got to be above capacity here, they have so much need for it,” Ference said. “The littlest we can do is come down and spread some little holiday cheer and help out a bit.”---Anthony Gulizia
