Welcome to New England Dice-K san!Konnichi wa!Brian vs. Zdeno
There’s nothing like two games within a week to nudge a dormant rivalry along.
This morning a lot of attention was given to Captain Zdeno Chara
’s facewash of formidable Dev’s forward Brian Gionta when the teams last met here at the Garden.
Chara was quick to dismiss that incident and indicated that he and the former Eagle had nothing brewing.
"He’s competitive guy," said Chara. "He’s not the biggest guy, but he plays with a lot of heart and you have to give him a lot a credit for that.
When asked if Brian plays a little dirty, Chara shrugged off the question.
"[Brian] plays the game that works for him. Like I said, he’s not the biggest guy, but he always gets chances and he battles hard, goes to the net and a lot of times he is doing the right thing," said Z.
"Sometimes the game is physical," he said. "And you have to play that way."
Coach Lewis didn’t think much of the match up, either.
"I wouldn’t call it a face to face meeting," said Coach. "I would call it more of a face to chest meeting.
Getting serious, he added, "It was an isolated incident as far as I know."
That being said, does Gionta’s size work to his advantage versus D-men like the Bruins Ents: Chara, Jurcina, Mara and Alberts.
Lewis thought that Z, for instance, didn’t really have size on his mind.
"I don’t even think he thinks about it. I don’t think he has that on his mind at all," said Coach.
"I think he just wants to prepare himself to play the best he can play against a good opponent tonight."Free Winter Cap Tonight
