by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
BOSTON, MA – Delaware North Chairman Jeremy Jacobs today, January 6, has named Charlie Jacobs Chief Executive Officer for Delaware North’s Boston Holdings. Delaware North’s Boston Holdings includes the Boston Bruins, TD Garden, Delaware North’s strategic real estate interests and the company’s ownership share in New England Sports Network (NESN).

"Since 2001 I have called Boston and the TD Garden home, and I am humbled by the opportunity to lead Delaware North’s Boston Holdings," said Charlie Jacobs. "The opportunity to lead three of New England's most iconic brands - the Boston Bruins, TD Garden and NESN - along with our new development project is a significant one, and I do not take it lightly. My goal is to build upon the success that my father has had with each of these, and identify further areas of growth for Delaware North."

In a related announcement, Louis Jacobs and Jeremy Jacobs Jr. have been named as co-Chief Executive Officers for Delaware North, one of the largest privately held global hospitality and food service companies in the world.

“I have had the tremendous opportunity to lead Delaware North for more than 45 years and have had enjoyed it immensely,” said Jeremy Jacobs. “My sons have been leading the company’s strategic direction and path to growth for some time now. Their path has been more evolutionary than revolutionary as they have provided a new perspective and vision that will no doubt ensure the company’s success for another 100 years. I am immensely proud of them, and while I still plan on being very active in the business, I know this company is in incredibly capable hands.”

Charlie Jacobs has been working in Boston for Delaware North since 2001, most recently as Principal of Delaware North and the Boston Bruins. As a member of the senior leadership team for all of Delaware North’s global operations, he guided the strategic efforts for the family in Boston.

Over the past two years Charlie has been spearheading the two-year $70 million privately financed project that will see a complete renovation of the levels four and seven concourses of TD Garden and technology upgrades as well as a new Pro Shop, all of which are designed to set the industry standard for fan experience in the arena. That is in addition to his involvement in the mixed-use development project that Delaware North has is slated to break ground on in 2015 for the former Boston Garden site.

Under his leadership the Bruins and TD Garden’s current management group has been assembled and it was a tribute to his stewardship when the Bruins were named as the Sports Business Journal’s 2012 Sports Team of the Year based on the criteria of “excellence, growth, creativity, innovation, sound planning, implementation and outcomes”.

Charlie also serves the Bruins as Alternate Governor on the NHL’s Board of Governors and is a board member of New England Sports Network (NESN).

Charlie is involved in a number of philanthropic causes in the New England area, but most notably he was instrumental in the creation of the Boston Bruins Foundation, whose mission is to assist charitable organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for children in the community, and he currently serves as President of the Boston Bruins Foundation.
