BostonBruins.com – Bruins prospects Jake DeBrusk and Jeremy Lauzon are moving on to the semifinals of the Memorial Cup.
DeBrusk and Red Deer will face off against Lauzon and Rouyn-Noranda on Friday night for a chance to play the London Knights in the final on Sunday. London was 3-0 in the preliminary round to grab an automatic bid into the championship.
Red Deer (2-1) defeated – and eliminated- the Brandon Wheat Kings Wednesday night with a 2-1 overtime victory. DeBrusk, who did not score against Brandon, has a goal and three assists through three games of the tournament. He ranks eighth among all skaters with four points and fourth with 12 shots on goal.
Lauzon has one assist through three games for Rouyn-Noranda, which lost its last two games – both by a score of 5-2 – but advanced to the semis.
DeBrusk won the first head-to-head battle against Lauzon, when Red Deer defeated R-N, 5-2, last Sunday. DeBrusk tallied a goal and two assists in that game.
