Dalton Assigned to Reading

BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Matt Dalton to the Reading Royals (East Coast Hockey League). Dalton was recalled on an emergency basis on Wednesday, February 24 and practiced with the team from February 25 to March 1 while goaltender Tim Thomas participated in the Winter Olympics.


The 23-year-old Dalton has appeared in 36 games this season for Reading with a 16-18-2 record, .905 save percentage and a 3.54 goals against average. Dalton has also appeared in four games for the Providence Bruins this year (American Hockey League) and has 0-4-0 record, a save percentage of .889 and a goals against average of 3.98.

The 6’1”, 194-pound Clinton, Ontario native was signed by the Bruins as a free agent on April 22, 2009 after playing two seasons at Bemidji State University where his career 2.29 goals against average is the best in school history.
