Boston, Mass. - The Boston Bruins began preparing for the start of the 2005-06 National Hockey League season, as veteran players reported to training camp at the TD Banknorth Garden today for testing and examinations.

While rookie camp officially began training camp on September 8, it was the return of the veterans to the ice that truly signaled the start of the new season.

Veterans take to the ice

Joe Thornton, Patrice Bergeron, P.J. Axelsson and most of the veterans took to the ice today in one of two optional skates. Off-season acquisitions Brian Leetch and Alex Zhamnov also skated, donning their new spoked B’s jerseys.

Other notes

Training camp runs through Saturday, October 1, alternating between the TD Banknorth Garden and Ristuccia Arena.  All practices during training camp are free and open to the public.
