On Petr Kalus: I’ve enjoyed watching him. He’s full of energy and he chases the puck. The two goals he’s gotten showed skills. He’s made the best of his chance and opportunity, and it’s nice to see a young player like that.
On the Bruins thoughts for next season: We have to get better as a group and as a team. We have a road ahead of us and we know the direction we want to go in. Now it’s up to us, the coaches, to get better. (Next season) we need to get off to a better start.
On Joey MacDonald: His save percentage and goals against are really good, and he have given us a chance in every game he’s played in.
On tonight’s play: I thought we played with a lot of energy. We played hard and that’s what we want. It’s a difficult situation, and our guys responded. Unfortunately the result at the end was disappointing.
Atlanta Head Coach, Bob Hartley
On earning five points of a possible six in the past week: I put it on the table at a meeting. I said, “we’re going to know what we’re made of, plus we’re going to know where we want to finish.” This week is another big week, but we got five points out of six. With a bad week this week we could have been stuck down in that mess battling for the eighth spot. I think it’s great for hockey, but I’m just happy that we are not part of it.
On what the Bruins have to gain in the next four games: There is a lot to gain. You look at kids like Bergeron and Kessel, they have some great young talent. You want to finish the year on a good note. Last year we had a great run at the end and it was very disappointing that we didn’t make the playoffs but we learned a lot about ourselves.
We started this year strong. That’s what you hope for as a hockey club. Those points that you get in October or November have the same value as two points in April. We took advantage of our early season. We had a great start and now we are cashing in.
