THE BOSTON BRUINS WEEK AHEAD

OCTOBER 8 – OCTOBER 15

THIS WEEK’S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS:

B’S INK BERGY: Patrice Bergeron signed a three-year contract extension through the 2013-14 NHL season on Friday. Bergeron and Chiarelli were available to media in Prague on Friday, October 8 following the team’s practice, which took place at noon local (6:00 a.m. ET) at O2 Arena.

OPEN SEASON: The Bruins kick off their 2010-11 campaign this weekend with two games against the Coyotes in Prague on Saturday, October 9 (12 noon ET) and Sunday, October 10 (10:00 a.m. ET). Both games will be televised on NESN and broadcast on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

PRAGUE RECAP: Thursday may have been a day off from practice for the Bruins, but the club kept busy with a number of activities. The morning consisted of an autograph session and meet and greet with B’s fans who traveled to Prague as part of AAA Travel’s Ultimate Fan Experience while the evening featured a reception hosted by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Necas. At the reception – which was held at the beautiful Hrzansky Palace – President Cam Neely and David Krejci spoke on behalf of the organization and thanked the group for their warm hospitality.

During the afternoon, Zdeno Chara, David Krejci, Nolan Schaefer and Marco Sturm ventured to Old Town Square in Prague and participated in a charity wheelchair hockey game.

VIEWING PARTIES: The Bruins are hosting two viewing parties to celebrate the season opening series in Prague. Head to The Four’s on Canal Street on Saturday and Jerry Remy’s on Boylston Street on Sunday. Further details can be found below.

“BIG BAD BRUINS SHOW,” “THE BRICKS,” “INSTIGATORS” AND MORE… NESN rolled out its Bruins coverage for the 2010-11 season, a jam-packed lineup that includes up to 72 games (all televised in HD with familiar faces Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley and Naoko Funayama calling the action), a new “Big Bad Bruins Show” hosted by Kathryn Tappen, as well as the return of popular shows The Bricks with Andy Brickley and The Instigators with Mike Milbury.

Brickley will set the stage for the regular season on Thursday, October 14 at 7:00 PM with The Bricks: 2010/11 Bruins Season Preview; a half-hour special that will look ahead to the coming season

The Big Bad Bruins Show will launch on Saturday, October 23 at 6:00 PM. Hosted by Kathryn Tappen, the Original NESN Entertainment production will feature in-depth one-on-one conversations with Bruins players, a regular segment with Bruins President Cam Neely, and weekly reports from reporter Naoko Funayama.

The Instigators with Mike Milbury will return for its third season on Thursday, October 28 at 10:30 PM.
