B's to Partner with MDA

by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
BOSTON, MA - On Thursday, March 25, the Boston Bruins are teaming up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and 20 Boston fire fighters to "Fill the Boot" and collect money for the MDA beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continuing throughout the Bruins/Tampa Bay game.

Earlier this season, Boston Bruins Mark Stuart and Shawn Thornton participated in the MDA's 2010 Muscle Team dinner, where professional athletes put their muscle behind the search to find treatments for neuromuscular disease. While at the dinner, Stuart and Thornton were each paired up with an MDA buddy. Their buddies, as well as six others, will be watching the Bruins/Tampa Bay contest. Families will also be VIP guests of forward Patrice Bergeron through the Patrice’s Pals Program. They will take part in a variety of in-game fan experiences including bench assistants, high five and a meet and greet with Stuart and Thornton after the game.

Fans will also have the opportunity to win a team autographed fire boot through the Bruins raffle and can purchase mystery autographed pucks throughout the game. All of the money raised from the raffle will be donated to the MDA.
The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) adopted the MDA as its charity of choice in 1954, at the urging the Boston Fire Department, who began the Fill the Boot program in 1952. By partnering with the IAFF, the Boston Bruins hope to raise awareness about muscular dystrophy and elevate the cause by encouraging Bruins fans to “ Fill the Skate” with donations.
