by Staff Writer / Boston Bruins
BOSTON - The Boston Bruins will honor local military members, veterans and their families at "Military Appreciation Night" presented by the Massachusetts and Maine Army National Guard on Monday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. during the Bruins/Devils game at the TD Garden (100 Legends Way, Boston, MA 02114). To show their support for the armed forces, Bruins Mark Stuart and Blake Wheeler will each purchase $5,000 worth of tickets to the Bruins/Devils game that they will give to local military members and their families.

Bruins fans can follow Stuart and Wheeler's lead through the team's "Seats for Soldiers" program. The Seats for Soldiers program enables fans to purchase specially-priced $99 Lower Level Seats and $50 Upper Level Seats that will be donated to the Boston Bruins Foundation who in turn will donate them to the USO New England. The Boston Bruins will be accepting monetary donations for Operation Homefront New England to send care packages to members of the military from the New England area currently serving overseas. A donation of $20 dollars will provide a member of the military with a complete care package. Bruins fans choosing to donate are encouraged to send a note of thanks and support to the solder receiving the care package and will be entered into a raffle with the chance to win Bruins autographed memorabilia.

In addition, the Boston Bruins Foundation will hold a special silent auction of sticks the Bruins players used during warm-ups that they wrapped in camouflage tape. Following warm-ups, each player will sign their stick, which will then be relocated to Level 4 for the silent auction. The Boston Bruins Foundation will also be auctioning off six camouflaged, autographed jerseys of Patrice Bergeron, Zdeno Chara, Nathan Horton, David Krejci, Tuukka Rask and Tyler Seguin. All of the proceeds will be donated to Homes for Our Troops. Homes for Our Troops, is a national non-profit organization committed to helping those who have selflessly given to our country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries since September 11, 2001.

The soldiers and their families will be honored throughout the game through photo montages on the Garden HDX, Zamboni rides, and video messages while a select few will have the chance to shake hands with the team as they leave the locker room during intermissions.
