Boston, MA - The Boston Bruins will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children in need through the US Marine Corps "Toys for Tots" program during their home games on December 5 and 10.The collections will take place at each of the TD Garden entrance turnstiles beginning at 6 p.m.
In addition to providing gifts for children and families in need this holiday season, fans choosing to donate at either home game will be entered to win two tickets to the 2010 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic Game at Fenway Park on January 1, when the Boston Bruins take on the Philadelphia Flyers. Mike Byne has helped kick-off the 2009-10 Bruins toy drive in a big way by working with Fulfillment America and the toy company Ebu Toys to donate over 1,100 toys to Toys for Tots. Byne will be recognized in game as the Boston Bruins "Community Captain" on December 10 for his efforts.
Last year, Bruins fans donated 3,600 toys and over $3,000 to the Toys for Tots program. The Boston Bruins have supported Toys for Tots through various toy drives for the past 10 years and hope to make the 2009 collection the most successful to date.
