Bruins fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to play Craps, Double Roulette, Blackjack, Texas Hold 'Em, and Wheel of Fortune with their favorite Bruins players on the 2011 –12 roster.
Rolling the dice, spinning the wheel, and racking up the chips is definitely something fans don’t get to do often with the Bruins, and the players enjoy that special interaction.
“It was good. It was just like your normal self and not having to put on your interview show kind of thing,” said Johnny Boychuk
about last year’s Casino Night. “Just getting to sit down, talk to the fans.”Shawn Thornton
admitted that he also prefers the intimate setting of Casino Night.
“Instead of just sitting around and taking pictures, we’re actually involved,” Thornton said. “It’s for the Bruins Foundation, which I support, so it’s for a good cause.”
While Boychuk moved his luck from station to station last year, he does admit that Roulette is his pick of choice. Thornton rolled the dice the whole night at Craps, but confesses he doesn’t have the hottest hands.
“I’m terrible – worst gambler you’ve ever met,” he said.
Though Craps may not be his forte, it is certainly his favorite.
“If you get a bunch of people at the table rolling dice, cheering, and you get on a bit of a roll it’s pretty exciting,” Thornton said. “Johnny Boychuk
is my go-to Craps guy, he’s actually pretty good I usually just follow his lead.”
Boychuk said it’s fun when to be on a streak, not only on the ice, but off the ice too. However, they admit that with their luck, Las Vegas won’t be getting a Black & Gold appearance.
For now, the best bet to find these two at the Craps table will be at Casino Night. For more information on Boston Bruins Casino Night presented by JetBlue click here.--- Elisabeth Flynn
