After the Bruins 2-1 victory over the Maple Leafs, forward Shawn Thornton
was asked if the Bruins felt any relief after a victory that followed two heartbreaking shootout losses.
"More so probably for Buffalo than the other one," said Thornton. "The way they came back with 30 seconds left, that brought them back.
"But, you know, I think going into this road trip if we could have bought eight of ten points we would have.
"We’re extremely happy with the result at the end of these (eight) days," he said.
Thornton talked about the B's performance in Toronto.
"We were a little emotionally flat I think in the first period," he said. "But I think we did a great job going out there and trying to create some intensity.
"A great forecheck...put a little more energy into the game and I think we carried that over.
"I think the guys did a good job of recognizing...how we needed to play in the second and third period," said Thornton.
But will it be difficult to carry over that momentum into Thursday's game?
"No. I think we’ll take the day off relax, spend some time with (our) families after the road trip and then get excited again to play some hockey and come back for Thursday’s game against the pesky Wild of Minnesota," he said.
