BUFFALO -Keith Kinkaid made 30 saves, Patrice Bergeron scored twice and Jakub Zboril notched his first NHL goal for the game winner to pace the Bruins to a 3-1 victory at KeyBank Center on Saturday night in the opening end of this weekend's back-to-back.
Coach Jim Montgomery credited the teams depth for the success. "You look at what we are doing on the ice and it's incredible depth," he said. "You have to give credit to our pro scouts who went and signed Keith Kinkaid."

Zboril Zings First NHL Goal

Jakub Zboril scored his first NHL goal on Saturday night to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead with seven minutes remaining in the third period. With a great pass from Tomas Nosek, Zboril was able to send a rocket right over Sabres goaltender Craig Anderson's glove and provide a boost to the B's that may have been lacking during the first two periods.
"I feel good and bad," Zboril said about netting both the game winner and his first NHL goal. "I don't think I deserved it today, but I waited long enough for it and it feels really good to finally be rewarded."
More important than goals, Zboril is focused on just having the chance to be out there on the ice. "Being out there every single night and earning the trust of the coach is very important to me," said Zboril.
Zboril recognized that although the Bruins are a strong third-period team, they have to focus on bringing their best for a full game. "We know we are a really good third period team, but we can't always do that," he said. "We need to play 60 minutes and show it every night."

Rose To The Occasion

"I did alright, I guess," joked Kinkaid when asked about his performance.
He sure did. Kinkaid stopped 30 of the 31 shots he saw in his Bruins debut as he stepped up to provide Linus Ullmark a breather on the opening end of Boston's back-to-back.
His method? "Do whatever it takes to keep the puck out, sometimes it works."
Kinkaid made some unbelievable saves Saturday night, particularly in the third period, as he only allowed one goal, which came just five minutes into the first period with a shorthanded tally by the NHL's third-leading goal scorer Tage Thompson.
"We prevailed in the end," said Kinkaid. "I just wanted to give my team a shot and they did the rest."
Kinkaid had not seen game action since Oct. 29 with the Providence Bruins, but has been practicing regularly with Boson since Jeremy Swayman's injury. When it comes to what Kinkaid thinks about this Bruins team, the veteran of 10 NHL seasons and four different teams had high praise. "This is probably one of the best groups I've ever been apart of," said Kinkaid.

The Captain Comes Through

Patrice Bergeron has always been a rock for the B's, so it came as no surprise that when the team needed a boost, The Captain was there. His first goal came on the power play with just 1:09 to go in the second period to tie it up 1-1, and his second goal - the result of a stellar tic-tac-toe sequence from Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak -ended with Bergeron whacking home a one-time to add the icing on the cake and secure the win. Bergeron now has seven goals and seven assists for 14 points this season.
