CHRISTMAS HISTORY: Prior to the NHL suspending the schedule for a December 24-25 break, the Bruins played 37 games in their history on Christmas Day with a 17-18-2 record in those games. Their last Christmas Day game came in their Stanley Cup-winning season of 1971-72 when they hosted the Flyers in a 5-1 victory.

THE STAT OF THE WEEK, COURTESY OF THE BOSTON BRUINS WEEK AHEAD STAT MACHINE:
The Bruins hit two feats last week that they had not accomplished in quite some time. They didn’t allow the Sens a power play opportunity in their 2-0 win in Ottawa on 12/21, which was the first time that had occurred since 1/27/04 at NY Islanders. They then opened their 6-4 win over Atlanta on 12/23 with three goals in 1:08, which was their fastest three goals scored since they scored three times in a 52-second span vs. Montreal 12/20/01.

THEY SAID IT…
Mark Recchi, after the B’s back-to-back wins…
“The bottom line is we needed two wins before Christmas and we got them.  A lot of positives happened in the last two games and we will enjoy our Christmas break now.”

BRUINS BY THE NUMBERS...
13-1-3: Bruins record in games which Zdeno Chara tallies a point
12-1-2: Bruins record in games which Mark Recchi tallies a point
