STAT OF THE WEEK: The Bruins have outshot their opponents 1,292-1,033 in 38 games this season, good for the NHL lead in shots-on-goal differential (+259). The Bruins have a 109-shot advantage on the Los Angeles Kings, the second-ranked team in shots on goal differential (+150).

 

Only three teams recorded a shots-on-goal differential greater than +259 over the course of last year's 82-game season (Los Angeles Kings, +371, Pittsburgh Penguins, +286, Nashville Predators, +265).

BRUINS ACADEMY: Step your game up by tuning into the all-new TV series, Bruins Academy, created specifically for kids who love hockey. Hosted by Emmy award-winning sports personality Charlie Moore and B's Reporter Caryn Switaj, the show will take you up-close and personal with your favorite Bruins players. One 30-minute episode will air per month on NESN, and the first 12 episodes can be viewed on BostonBruins.com/BruinsAcademy and on the Bruins mobile app. In the most recent episode, the Bruins host Military Appreciation Night, Dan Vladar talks about his first taste of pro hockey, and the scouting of NHL referees is explained. BRUINS ACADEMY KIDS APP: Bruins Academy is part of the Bruins' ongoing mission to encourage positive youth development through the sport of hockey. To join the club, download the new mobile app designed specifically for kids called Bruins Academy presented by Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center. The app has built-in safety features that provide a safe experience for kids to connect with each other and their favorite team. In the new Bruins Academy app, kids can explore exclusive team content, create their own avatar, learn educational tips, test their trivia skills, and participate in challenges.

 

Follow along on TV with the new Bruins Academy TV series. MORNING SKATES AT WARRIOR ICE ARENA: On game days this season, the Bruins' morning skates will be held at Warrior Ice Arena (90 Guest Street, Boston, MA 02135). Pregame media availability for Head Coach Claude Julien and players will also be held at Warrior Ice Arena. There will be no additional pregame media availability at TD Garden. Please contact a member of the Bruins Communications Staff for schedule updates throughout the year.

FIRST RESPONDER CHALLENGE: Know a Firefighter, Police Officer, or EMT? The Boston Bruins are looking for first responders to take part in the First Responder Challenge on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Individuals or teams of 4-10 will participate in the in-arena TD Garden course that finishes on ice level. The team that raises the most funds for The 100 Club will be awarded the BFit Cup during the Bruins home game on Tuesday, February 28 against the Arizona Coyotes. BOSTON BRUINS ALUMNI GAMES:

Saturday, January 7, 2017, 6 p.m. - The Bruins Alumni will faceoff against Team Renzi at the Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA. The game will benefit the Renzi Family Scholarship Fund named in honor of Mike Renzi, who was killed in a car accident in 2015 and had coached youth hockey in the Berkshire area for over 18 years. Sunday, January 8, 2017, 1 p.m. - The team will travel to Springfield, MA for a game at the Olympia Ice Center. The game will benefit members of the Holy Name Youth Hockey Association. Tickets are and may be purchased at the door the day of the event. Making the trip and expected on the ice for both games are Terry O'Reilly, Rick Middleton, Glen Featherstone, and Bill Bennett, along with the rest of the Bruins Alumni team.
