Bruins forward Matt Beleskey will personally deliver $2,000 worth of pies to various shelters and charitable organizations throughout Boston on Thanksgiving morning, November 26. The 2016 Pucks and Pups calendar presented by the Black Dog goes on sale this Friday, November 27. You will find a range of Bruins players featured in the calendar with their family pets or adoptable dogs from the MSPCA. Bruins CEO Charlie Jacobs also participated in the project. . The proceeds from the 2016 calendar will benefit the Boston Bruins Foundation and donations will be made to the MSPCA-Angell and NEADS (National Education for Assistance Dog Services). This is the third year of the Pucks and Pups calendar; the calendar raised over $200,000 in the past two years. BRUINS TO HOST COACHING SYMPOSIUM ON 11/21:
The Boston Bruins and USA Hockey are teaming up to bring youth hockey coaches a day of coaching education from members of the Boston Bruins Coaching Staff (Claude Julien, Joe Sacco, Doug Jarvis, Doug Houda, Bob Essensa and John Whitesides), USA Hockey and other experts in the field. Youth hockey coaches will listen to the expert panel present on all aspects of coaching, followed by age specific breakout sessions. Loui Eriksson scored his third career hat trick (first as a Bruin) on Thursday, November 19 against Minnesota. Eriksson now has 4-1=5 totals in three straight games with 7-1=8 totals in five of his last eight contests. Loui Eriksson’s hat trick on November 19 was the first from a Bruin since David Krejci’s on March 2014, 2014 against the Florida Panthers. The 6’ 2”, 183 pound Swedish forward scored his hat trick in 16 minutes and 37 seconds, which is the fastest hat trick by a Bruin since Brad Boyes did so on March 18, 2006 against the Carolina Hurricanes. After Thursday night’s game against the Minnesota Wild, Bruins alternate captain Patrice Bergeron is on a current point streak that spans six games with 3-4=7 totals. He now has 6-10=16 in 12 of his last 14 games. His assist in Thursday’s game was his league-leading 12th power play point of the season. POWERFUL POWER PLAY:
The Bruins power play continues to succeed and lead the NHL. They are now 20 for 58 (35.2%) after last night’s game against the Minnesota Wild at TD Garden. The Dallas Stars are ranked second in the NHL with 28.3%.NEW NHL ALL-STAR GAME FORMAT:
The 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game is being transformed into a 3-on-3 All-Star Tournament featuring the NHL’s most talented players from each of the four divisions: Pacific, Central, Metropolitan and Atlantic. The game will be broken up into three 20-minute games. The All-Star Skills Competition is set to take place on Saturday, January 30 and the All-Star Tournament will be held on Sunday, January 31. The winning team of the 3-on-3 tournament will receive a prize of $1 million. Each team will consist of 11 players from their team’s division: six forwards, thee defensemen and two goaltenders. The Semi-Final games will be played between Central-Pacific and Metropolitan-Atlantic, with the winner of those games playing in the All-Star Tournament Final. The four division-leading NHL coaches, which will be determined by who has the best points percentage following January 9, 2016, will be named coaches for the four All-Star teams.
