STATS YOU MAY FIND INTERESTING…6th STRAIGHT HOME ICE OPENER FOR B’S:
The Bruins will play their 6th straight season opener on home ice on Wednesday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. against Philadelphia. They are 37-36-16 overall in season-opening games and are 30-16-11 when those games have been played at home. They have won their last 2 season openers with 3-1 wins each vs. NY Rangers on Jan. 19, 2013 and Tampa Bay on Oct. 3, 2013 but are 4-8-2 in their last 14 season openers following a 9-0-3-0 unbeaten stretch in opening games from 1987-98.213 AND COUNTING:
Coming into the 2014-15 campaign, the Boston Bruins have sold out 213 straight regular season and playoff games. This sellout streak began more than four years ago on December 5, 2009 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The last game the Bruins did not have 17,565 in attendance at the Garden was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 when they hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning (16,553).BOSTON MEDIA TWEET OF THE WEEK (TOTW):
With another hockey season comes another year of the Boston Bruins Media Tweet of the Week competition. With his second TOTW win of the year DJ Bean makes a joke about the team’s “merlot” practice jersey.
@DJ Bean (DJ Bean, WEEI.com): Pastrnak in burgundy. Camara is just wearing a red jersey, no logo. Probably signifying no contact, but what a hipster.
This week’s honorable mentions listed in no particular order:
@AmalieBenjamin (Amalie Benjamin, Boston Globe): The fact that Ville Leino is younger than me is depressing.
@RealJackEdwards (Jack Edwards, NESN): I admit that I missed the goofy dancing in the aisles during intermissions. GREAT TO BE INSANE AGAIN
@GlobeFluto (Fluto Shinzawa, Boston Globe): In the sky-is-blue department, Dougie Hamilton is going to have a very good year.
