THIS WEEK’S NEWS, NOTES AND NUMBERS…
BRUINS TO UNVEIL WINTER CLASSIC JERSEY AT B’S SEASON TICKET HOLDER "TAILGATE WITH THE TEAM" EVENT ON 10/24: The Boston Bruins will unveil their jerseys for the 2016 NHL Winter Classic in front of 2,000 Bruins Season Ticket Holders on Saturday, October 24 at the Seaport World Trade Center at 1:30 p.m. Bruins captain Zdeno Chara, alternate captain David Krejci and goaltender Tuukka Rask will showcase the Bruins Winter Classic jerseys. Bruins President Cam Neely will explain the jersey design to the Bruins Season Ticket Holders in attendance.

RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE:
On Tuesday, October 27 Work Without Limits and Mass Down Syndrome Congress will be recognizing The Boston Bruins for being an “Exemplary Employer for Hiring Individuals with Disabilities and Advancing Workplace Diversity” in Massachusetts. Boston Bruins Foundation Executive Director Bob Sweeney will be on hand along with Bruins Employee John Dunleavy to accept the award on behalf of the Boston Bruins organization. The presentation will take place between 9-10:30 a.m. at the Four Points Sheraton in Norwood, MA.

BRUINS ACTIVATE JOE MORROW FROM INJURED RESERVE; ASSIGN SETH GRIFFITH TO PROVIDENCE: Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced today, Friday, October 23, that the club has activated defenseman Joe Morrow from Injured Reserve and taken forward Seth Griffith off Injured non-roster status and assigned Griffith to the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League). Griffith has yet to see any regular season game action this year due to a MCL sprain in his left knee that occurred in a Boston Bruins preseason game on September 20.

BOSTON BRUINS FOUNDATION TEAMS UP WITH BOKS: On Wednesday, October 28 the Boston Bruins Foundation will be presenting BOKS (Build Our Kids Success- https://www.bokskids.org/) with a $25,000 grant to open up five new school programs in Boston. BOKS is a free program that gives kids a body and brain boost before school through physical exercise and helps set them up for a successful day of learning. On Wednesday, October 28 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. the Bruins Foundation and BOKS will be hosting a press conference and event at City Hall which will highlight the program as well as showcase the curriculum the kids participate in in the mornings. Scheduled to appear is the Mayor of Boston Marty Walsh, Boston Bruins Foundation Executive Director Bob Sweeney and Boston Bruins forward Matt Beleskey. I.C.E. SCHOOL VISIT AT THE WARREN PRESCOTT SCHOOL: In support of the Bruins I.C.E. (I Can Excel) School program, Bruins forward Max Talbot will visit the Warren Prescott School in Charlestown, MA from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. to teach a lesson plan from the program curriculum.  The Boston Bruins I.C.E. School program, presented by AT&T, serves to provide Kindergarten through 8th grade teachers with supplemental curriculum materials incorporating the sport of hockey and the Bruins into lesson plans that align with the common core standards.  The player will assist with teaching an I.C.E. BRUINS TO VISIT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL BOSTON: Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug, Brad Marchand, Kevan Miller, David Pastrnak will be visiting Children’s Hospital Boston on Wednesday, October 28. The visit will be a special Halloween themed visit with players dressing up in costumes as they spend time going from room to room at the hospital.  The players will also be “reverse trick-or-treating” as they deliver goodie bags to the children. HALLMARK HEALTH GETS A VISIT FROM BOSTON BRUINS: Bruins players Joe Morrow and Tyler Randell will be visiting the Adult Day Care Center at Hallmark Health in Wakefield, MA on October 28 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Players will participate in playing games with the adult clients like Wii, checkers, ping pong and pool. FIRST P.A.S.S. CLINIC SERIES PRESENTED BY TD BANK: TD Bank and the Boston Bruins have teamed up for the tenth straight year to support New England youth hockey through the P.A.S.S. (Partnership to Assist Skaters and Shooters) clinic series.  P.A.S.S. features a free on-ice clinic conducted by Bruins players, alumni and members of the Boston Bruins Youth Hockey Development Team. The clinic includes instruction on hockey fundamentals such as skating, passing and shooting, as well as a $1,000 donation from TD Bank to each hosting youth hockey organization. In addition, each individual participant will receive two tickets to an upcoming Bruins game as well as a TD Bank P.A.S.S. jersey and gift bag. P.A.S.S. clinics are open to youth hockey players between the ages of eight and 12. On Wednesday, October 28 Bruins player Zach Trotman will host an on ice clinic with Somerville Youth Hockey players at Veterans Memorial Rink in Somerville, MA. AIR DATES FOR SEASON 3 OF BEHIND THE B: Episode three of Behind the B presented by ALEX AND ANI airs Friday, October 23 on NESN at 6:30 p.m. Episodes one and two of Behind the B have already aired on NESN and are available now on bostonbruins.com/behindtheb. The Bruins have a total of 13 episodes that are slated to air during the 2015-16 season and will be narrated by actor and Worcester, MA native, Denis Leary. Other exclusive Behind the B related content will be available on bostonbruins.com and the Boston Bruins Digital Entertainment Network (Bruins DEN) throughout the season.

Bruins defenseman Torey Krug has been confirmed as a weekly call-in guest with 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Scott Zolak and Marc Bertrand (Zo and Bertrand), which airs weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Adam McQuaid will be a regular guest on 100.7 WZLX with Kevin Karlson and Pete McKenzie (Karlson & McKenzie), which airs weekdays from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Call-in days and times are dependent upon the B’s schedule.

BOSTON BRUINS ALUMNI GAME: On Saturday, October 24 the Boston Bruins Alumni will be playing a benefit game against the Milton Youth Hockey Coaches.  The puck drops at 4pm at the Max Ulin Memorial Rink in Milton.  Proceeds from the event will benefit Milton Youth Hockey.  Mark Cornforth, currently coaching at Catholic Memorial is expected to join the lineup which includes Terry O’Reilly and Bruce Shoebottom on defense, Tim Sweeney and Tom Songin at forward, along with the rest of the Bruins Alumni team.

FORMER BRUINS PLAYER PASSES: Former Bruin, Fleming Mackell passed away at the age of 86.  He spent 10 years with the Bruins during the 1950’s.  For information on arrangements, please visit:

STATS YOU MAY FIND INTERESTING…

-The Bruins are now eight for 21 on the power play this season (38.1%), which leads the NHL, and have not allowed a shorthanded goal this season.
-David Krejci had two assists in the October 21 game vs. the Philadelphia Flyers, which extended his point streak to six games with 4-7=11 totals in that span. That is the longest point streak by a Bruin to open a season since Nathan Horton [5-4=9 totals] had points in his first six games of the 2010-2011 season.
-Patrice Bergeron’s assist on Boston’s first goal against the Philadelphia Flyers on October 21 was the 347th of his career, moving him past Bill Cowley and Milt Schmidt into sole possession of tenth place on the club’s all-time assists list.
