Bruins Tie NHL Record With 11th Straight Win on Home Ice

BOSTON -The Bruins brought it to the Blackhawks with a 6-1 win at TD Garden on Saturday night and improved to 16-2-0 this season.
"They play the game like they love it and they are having a great time," said Coach Jim Montgomery.
Here are some notes and numbers from Boston's big win over Chicago:

Recording Records: With the B's victory on Saturday night they have tied the NHL record for most consecutive wins at home to start a season at 11-0-0. They match the record with last year's Florida Panthers and the 1963-64 Blackhawks. "It's nice to be part of the record books, said Montgomery. "One thing we wanted to do was focus on staying in the present. Focus on the next shift, and I thought we did a great job of that tonight."

A Sweet Return: For Jeremy Swayman, keeping the Boston fan base happy is at the top of his to do list. "We don't want to lose in this arena," said Swayman, who was returning from a lower-body injury that kept him sidelined for roughly two weeks. "Boston fans are the best in the league so we want to make sure that we're winning at home and that we don't plan on stopping anytime soon."
Swayman, starting for the first time since Oct. 27 against Detroit, did not see much action against the Blackhawks, allowing just one goal and seeing only 19 shots. "It's just one shot at a time," said Swayman. "I had the best seat in the house to watch the boys go to work, so it was fun."

Pouring It On: The B's made sure to really secure the win against Chicago, scoring six goals, including four unanswered after Chicago cut into Boston's 2-0 lead with a power-play tally at 10:37 of the second. The first goal came from David Pastrnak just 4:53 into the first period with the assists coming from Patrice Bergeron and Charlie McAvoy. This put Bergeron two away from his 1,000th career point.
The second goal came from Bergeron just 4:28 into the second period giving the B's the 2-0 lead and bringing Bergeron to be just one shy of his 1,000 point milestone. "I think it's that I've played with some great players," said Bergeron when asked about approaching achievement. "I guess I've played for a long time too...It's been a fun journey and got to keep that going. For me, it's really about to continue to grow as a team and to get better."

The next goal came from Jake DeBrusk on the power play, followed closely by David Krejci. This was DeBrusk's seventh goal of the season and Krejci's fifth. The game was closed out in the third with Pastrnak's second goal coming off a great feed from Nick Foligno 11:12 into the final period. Pastrnak now has 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points. Taylor Hall scored his sixth goal of the season to close out the game.
A Helping Hand: McAvoy recorded an assist on four of the six goals. Only three blue liners in Bruins history have had more helpers in one game: Bobby Orr - 6 on Jan. 1, 1973 and 5 on Dec. 20, 1969; Glen Wesley - 5 on Oct. 16, 1988; and Ray Bourque - 5 on Feb. 18, 1990 and Jan. 2, 1994.
"My legs feel good, brain feels good, trying to move quick and use my first reads and its certainly easy when you're playing with guys with this much skill," said McAvoy. "Up and down the lineup we've got a bunch of really special players, so just trying to let my instincts take over and be in positions where I can help guys."

The B's look to stay hot as they leave for Florida for a two-game road trip to take on the Tampa Bay Lighting on Monday and the Florida Panthers on Wednesday.
