Maynard, MA -
To give kids a chance to participate in hockey and learn the basic skills of the sport, the Boston Bruins hosted an NHL Street Hockey clinic at the Boys and Girls Club of Assabet Valley Monday, March 9th.
Tommy Songin, a former B’s player and now a Bruins Hockey Ambassador, led the 30 boys and girls (ages 6 to 14) in the safe, structured environment where – once outfitted with the proper gear – they were able to test their abilities with positive feedback.
Sponsored by the NHL, the program provided the hockey equipment to the Boys and Girls Club as well as to other community centers and schools interested in participating.
All equipment, including sticks, nets, pucks and full sets of goaltending gear, are left with the community centers or schools so that the children can continue to develop their love of hockey even when the spotlights are off. Click here
